    Woodland Preschool is searching for 3, 4, and 5 year old children to ...
    paint, glue, color, laugh, jump, socialize, share thoughts and ideas, learn letters and sounds, watch seeds grow, work on computers, sing, exercise, and build dinosaurs out of boxes...
    BUT MOSTLY TO HAVE FUN WHILE LEARNING AND MAKING NEW FRIENDS!!!

    PHILOSOPHY

    Woodland Preschool is a learning school.   Our curriculum helps children develop mentally, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.  Our goals foster curiosity, stimulate enthusiasm, build ideas and concepts by learning, curriculum and content.  A Woodland Preschool education helps the young child gain a respect for truth, love and himself.



    GOALS

    We carry out our philosophy and goals by providing learning centers with a rich variety of materials surrounding the child.


                  

    We strive to help each child to:

    1. Live, Work, and play with other children in a program of learning activities.
    2. Use materials freely and constructively, which will increase creative power, independence, and motor coordination.
    3. Develop group awareness.
    4. Have experiences with books, music, and art materials, as well as express himself or herself.
    5. Develop a sense of security and well-being in a school situation.




    CLASSES


                  

    Woodland offers classes for three, four, and five year old children and includes a Pre-Kindergarten. 
    We also have a Tot Time class for two year olds with an adult.



    Preschool Program:

    1. Free Play - induce thinking, care, and use of craft materials and stimulate imagination and conversation.

    2. Socialization - adjust to group living, acquire acceptable attitudes and habits of cooperative play.

    3. Circle Time - a structured time of stories, songs, science, vocabulary, number concepts, recognition of letters, and preparation for trips.

    4. Music and Rhythms - develop music appreciation and a feeling for dramatic play.

    5. Snack Time - a relaxed time for practice of table courtesies.

    6. Rest Time - a time for exercising self-control.

    7. Supervised Play - both indoors and outdoors. Develop muscle coordination, new skills and a sense of fair play and sharing.

    8. Music and Rhythm - coordination and appreciation. Also an approach to learning counting, seasons, and holidays.

    9. Cost 5 Day - tuition is $125.00 per month (*) .

    10. Cost 3 Day - tuition is $110.00 per month(*) .

    Pre-Kindergarten Program:

    1. Academic
      1. Develop oral skills
      2. Learn names and letter sounds.
      3. Apply sounds to decode words.
      4. Identify shapes.
      5. Relate numbers to like sets.
      6. Counting.

    2. Free Play - use of toys and craft materials; hand-eye coordination.

    3. Socialization - use of courtesy in group living.

    4. Story Time - reinforces value of learning. (Sometimes just fun.)

    5. Snack Time - a relaxed time for courtesy at the table.

    6. Music and Rhythm - coordination and appreciation. Also an approach to learning counting, seasons, and holidays.

    7. Cost - tuition is $140.00 per month (*) .

    Extended Care Program:

    1. Purpose - extra supervised time offered for children who are enrolled in Woodland Preschool/Pre-Kindergarten.

    2. Time - this service is available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

    3. Lunch - the child should bring his/her own lunch and drink.

    4. Supervision - supervisions is provided by paid, responsible adults.

    5. Cost - this service is $4.00 per hour (*), or any part thereof.

    Tot Time Class:

    1. Purpose - the purpose of the program is to help parents of two year olds to:
      1. Better understand his/her own child in relation to other children.
      2. Discuss behavior problems with the teacher and other parents in the group.
      3. Have the satisfaction of working with others and his/her child in a common project.
      4. Realize that this is an experience which will be of benefit to both parent and Tot.
      5. Snack Time - a relaxed time for practice of table courtesies.
      6. Rest Time - a time for exercising self-control.
      7. Supervised Play - both indoors and outdoors. Develop muscle coordination, new skills and a sense of fair play and sharing.

    2. Free Play- child with Mom's assistance, may play in any interest center, including the easel .

    3. Learning - cleanup, songs, and finger plays will be led by the teacher.

    4. Crafts - Crafts or eye-hand coordination projects.

    5. Exercise - tumbling on individual mats with Mom's supervision (large muscle activity).

    6. Snack Time - a relaxed time.

    7. Time - session is one day per week for 12 to 16 weeks.

    8. Cost - tuition is $8.00 per session (*) for 12 to 16 sessions.



    (*) Tuition and Fees:

      • ALL prices on this website, both above and below, are subject to change. Please verify prices by calling Woodland Preschool.
      • $40.00 pre-kindergarten book fee for pre-k students
      • $5.00 weekly reader fee for 4 year olds class
      • $10.00 activity fee for all students
      • First monthly payment is due September 1st. and the last monthly payment is due May 1st.
      • $5.00 late fee imposed if tuition is not paid by the 3rd of each month and continues to accrue at $5.00 per week thereafter. (Late fees are placed in Woodland's scholarship fund.)
      • $75.00 non-refundable application fee is required for all applications. This reserves a space for your child and is used for daily supplies.

    REGISTRATION

    REGISTRATION FOR FALL 2008-2009 SCHOOL YEAR:

  • Returning Students/Alumni registration starts Jan 7, 2008

  • Public registration begins Jan 28, 2008.



  • STAFF

    Our staff includes a director, two teachers of Three year olds, two teachers of four year olds, one teacher of pre-kindergarten, a teacher's aide and extended care teachers. These teachers and the director are all experienced and qualified to state requirements.

    The staff is affiliated with the National Association for the Education of the Young Child. the
    Midwestern AEYC, the Ohio AEYC, and the Akron Area AEYC. They attend annual conferences.

    We also employ a treasurer and have the assistance of the Woodland Church Secretary.

    SPECIAL EVENTS

    • PARENT CHILD ORIENTATION WITH THE DIRECTOR will be scheduled by the Director. The purpose is to explain our total program, to acquaint parents and children with the teachers, and to tour the school.
    • PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES are held in January to discuss your child's progress and capabilities. Additional conferences may be requested at any time. All parents are urged to take advantage of these opportunities.
    • FALL OPEN HOUSE is held in October and the parents have a chance to meet one another, visit the teacher, and observe your child's classroom work.
    • PARENT'S PROGRAM is planned by the children and teachers in May. The program includes child activities, a snack, and gifts for parents.
    • TREAT DATES are scheduled near Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Valentine's Day. Parents are asked to send treats for these occasions.
    • BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS: You may send simple snacks such as cookies, small cupcakes, or ice cream (1 for each child). You may also consider donating a book for the classroom library shelf (small Golden Book type). If your child's birthday falls during summer or vacation time, he/she may select a date to celebrate an un-birthday.
