Welcome to Woodland Church
And Woodland Preschool

444 North Hawkins Avenue, Akron Ohio 44313
(330) 836-9777

Visitors are always welcome at our church on the west side of Akron, Ohio.

Woodland is a small church just north of the Wallhaven area with a rich history on Akron's west side. Many of our members live in west Akron, Bath, Copley, or Fairlawn, but regardless of where you live, you're invited to stop in on Sunday morning and give our church a try.

If you’d like to find a church where you can have fun while helping others, Woodland is the place for you. The Church has special activities scheduled almost every week, . We host free lunches for area families. Our men's group sponsors the Angel Food program to supply grocery items at half price. Members also hold food basket drives for Open-M in Akron. Our Youth and Women's groups assemble Flood kits, health kits, and school kits for the international United Methodist Committee on Relief. We provide a home for an excellent, non-denominational Pre-school that is open to all children. We sponsor neighborhood meetings and events in our building, and furnish the public schools with a place for annual testing. Mobile Meals uses our kitchen to warm and prepare free meals for delivery.

We support our troops, and their families

Not long ago, we also worked to be of assistance to deployed military personnel by offering our main hall as a monthly place for their family members to meet.

People who attend Woodland enjoy the fun, interesting, and uplifting services that this church has to offer. Many like to work on Tuesday night projects, and then head out to an area eatery for dinner. Our members host a monthly communion service that is open to everyone--even non-members. At Christmas and Easter, we celebrate the holidays as the special Christian events that they truly are. Between musical opportunities, Sunday school, youth group, our men's group, and three women's groups, there is something at Woodland for everyone.

To find out more before stopping in, click the fish located along the left side. You'll find upcoming events listed below in the announcements and news about past events on the Woodland News page. You can also find more information in The Broadcaster on that page. Find out what's coming up, stop in, and check it out!

Program. Through this non-profit program, we sell a monthly assortment of groceries to area
residents at less than half the retail price. This program is here for all, regardless of income.
Because the Angel Food Program is open to everyone, it's a great way to get to know a lot of
your neighbors. Come on in and join us in our efforts. It's fun to help our hard working
    neighbors lower their food bill.

NORTH HAWKINS CLOSED AT RR CROSSING

Woodland is at the northwest corner of this map

The closure of N. Hawkins Avenue at the railroad crossing starting March 3, 2008, will
require that many of our friends will need to plan an alternate route to Woodland.
This map details a path using Castle Blvd and Fairfax. From the West, it may be more
advantageous to use Wiltshire, which connects to Fairfax at N. Hawkins. Other routes
from the West include Shatto, Kingsley, or Thurmont.

    May 31ST, ANGEL FOOD PICKUP

Click here to see the Angel Food Menu

twelve to retirement age can join our teens to adult class. All are welcome. We use an

BUY GIFT CARDS, HELP SUPPORT WOODLAND CHURCH

Help Woodland, Buy with gift cards!

Woodland Church sells gift cards for area restaurants, department stores, grocery stores, and specialty
shops. You pay the face value for the cards, which is their redeemable value at the participating businesses,
but Woodland Church will get a percentage of the proceeds from each card sold. Buy cards as gifts for
friends and family or use them yourself on your next trip to the grocery store. In either case, you get gift
cards that are worth exactly what you paid for them, and Woodland receives a donation from your
purchase. If you buy anything from the many participating stores, do it with a gift card and help out the
church at no additional cost to you. Reverend Kovach has the lists of participating businesses available
at the church. Turn your orders in with your payment to Reverend Kovach on Sunday mornings. Our
goal is to deliver your cards to you on the following Sunday morning. Thanks for your support of Woodland Church!
