Woodland, in coordination with Open-M, will again host a free Thanksgiving Dinner for our friends
and neighbors. As always, the annual feast will be held at Woodland Church on the Wednesday before
Thanksgiving Day. So this year it will be Wednesday, November 25, 2009. Woodland volunteers will
be supplying fresh baked pies for dessert and will be serving at the big event.

NOVEMBER 29, DECK THE HALLS OF WOODLAND!
Sunday November 29, after our morning service, we will be
hanging the greens for the Christmas holiday at Woodland Church.
This is a small part of our holiday tradition, and everyone who
wants to take part is invited to join in after the service. The
whole process usually takes just a couple of hours, and it is
always great fun. So come on in, and help get the church ready for
Christmas--the opportunity comes around only once a year!

HOLIDAY FOOD BASKET FOOD DRIVE FOR OPEN-M
The Outreach Committee is collecting 26 ounce canisters of table salt for the
Holiday Food Baskets to be given out by OPEN-M. The canisters will be collected throughout
November. This should give us plenty of time to reach our goal of 200!

BUY GIFT CARDS, HELP SUPPORT WOODLAND CHURCH
Woodland Church sells gift cards for area restaurants, department stores, grocery stores, and specialty
shops. You pay the face value for the cards, which is their redeemable value at the participating businesses,
but Woodland Church will get a percentage of the proceeds from each card sold. Buy cards as gifts for
friends and family or use them yourself on your next trip to the grocery store. In either case, you get gift
cards that are worth exactly what you paid for them, and Woodland receives a donation from your
purchase. If you buy anything from the many participating stores, do it with a gift card and help out the
church at no additional cost to you. Reverend Gibbons has the lists of participating businesses available
at the church. Turn your orders in with your payment to Reverend Gibbons on Sunday mornings. Our
goal is to deliver your cards to you on the following Sunday morning. Thanks for your support of Woodland Church!

FALL, SUNDAY BIBLE STUDY!
Sundays at 7:30 p.m., Pastor Debbie has arranged a new Fall
Bible Study at Woodland that is open to everyone. Even if you
attend nothing else at Woodland, this study is open to you, and you
are absolutely welcome to come in and join us each and every week.
The Fall topic is the "One Another Passages", dealing with how we,
as Christians, should deal with others and how we treat one another.
Stop by the church and join us for the upcoming weekly discussion!
|
THURSDAY BIBLE STUDY
Thursdays at 11:30 a.m., Pastor Debbie has a
Bible Study at Woodland that is open to all who may be interested.
This Bible study requires no advanced preparation or homework.
It is an open discussion on what we hear as the scripture is read
aloud. Light refreshments are provided during the group's meetings.
Drop by the church and join us in the main hall (narthex) for the upcoming
weekly get together!

LINUS QUILT PROGRAM
Bring in your cloth scraps and help fill the box at the back of the
Sanctuary! Our current outreach program is to help the LINUS
program. LINUS makes quilts for sick children in hospitals. So
you just can't find a better cause to support. If you have any questions,
please see Ann Lance, who is coordinating the effort.

REGULAR SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
Woodland's regular Sunday School classes have resumed for Fall. Our Children's Sunday
School classes as well as our Teens to Adult Class start out on Sunday mornings in the
Sanctuary with everyone else for a few songs and announcements. After the announcements,
those who wish to attend, head off to the individual classrooms. (Please check with idividual
instructors. The participation in Sanctuary activities varies by instructor.) All Sunday school
classes start at 9:00 a.m. in the sanctuary or in the classrooms. They end at 10:00 a.m., so they
conveniently end at about the same time as the regular Sunday morning service. Questions about our
Sunday School classes can be directed to Pastor Debbie. Check this week's schedule to confirm Pastor
Debbie's office hours. Tuesdays and Thursday mornings are the usual times to find her "In the Office".
If you'd like to speak to the instructors, please leave a message through the church office. This ensures
that you get to speak to someone. That person can then follow-up to make sure that your message gets to
the right person without being lost. (Some personal numbers have changed.)
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
